Th,Nov 27 - Matthew 6:19-24

19"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
-This is a command, not a suggestion. The command is very straight forward.
-Things of this world come and go...nothing is permanent about it.

20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.
-Do not do the above, instead do this. A lesson taught by opposites.

21
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
-Describes a consequence of treasures. Also gives insight on how to determine what your treasure is: Look into where your heart spends its time to see what your treasure is.
-If your heart is on things that can be rusted, destroyed, or stolen then we need to switch our focus on heavenly things.

22
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light 23But if your eyes are bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
-Interesting transition from talking about treasure to eyes and light. The eyes set the path for the body to follow. If we see good things then good will ensue and vice versa if we see bad things.
-In the darkness side of the analogy the idea is brought up of how deep or entrenched in the darkness might we be.

24"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money
-Mention of a specific treasure or darkness: money.
-Question might be brought up: How great is the darkness of money in our lives?
-More lesson of how we can't serve to masters. They will have conflicting views on life and both will not be able to be compatible in guiding our lives.
-There's only one choice in dealing with differing masters. We must decide to follow one and abandon the other.

+In these holiday times its easy to store treasures on earth too much. We can easily get enslaved to money and its power. We must keep our focus on heavenly things that endure forever.
